Hi all!
If you could have a wild animal as a pet, what would you get?
I'd love to have a lion. Lions are so pretty!
Yes, wild animals can kill you..but never mind that lol..I just mean if you could have one.
I was watching national geographic wild a special on wolves. I was like wow very surprised how much they sound like dogs.. but they are killer dogs and yep I know that all dogs come from the wolf! Amazing!

Oh my, great question! There are many. But if I could choose, I'd like to have a panda bear. They're very soft and extremely beautiful. :)

Well being the cat person that I am I'd probably want one of the big cats.I got to touch a cheetah once and that was pretty cool.

Post 9 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 27-Jan-2014 19:10:18

wow so cool! I wonder what the cheetah fur felt like? was it short and course like I'm thinking?
I also wonder what an elephant looks like up close! I've seen stuffed plushy elephants.. lol not the same.. :)
Wolves are so smart! I wonder if they just feel like a big dog? if so how big? for example is a wolf the size of a lab or bigger? like a great dane?

Post 10 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 27-Jan-2014 19:59:56

Depends on the type of wolf. Some are big like 100 pound dogs or larger. Some smaller.
Elephants are really smart, and feel like leather. Vary pretty. Gray some, and some are white.
People actually have them as pets in Africa, but we can't here.

LOL elephants are cool but I wouldn't want one as a pet. For one thing think of the messes you'd have to clean up! I did have the opportunity not only to touch one but to ride it as well and that was very cool. They have very rough, wrinkly skin with little bits of hair that feel to me almost like little strands of grass. As for the cheetah she was actually pretty soft. Her fur wasn't as soft as a house cat's certainly but I wouldn't say it was coarse either. I've heard lion fur is very rough but I've never had the chance to touch one. I did touch a tiger hide once (or at least a synthetic material designed to feel like the real thing) and that actually felt pretty similar to a house cat. I didn't even have that much time with the cheetah and really we were only able to touch her head. Her trainers had worked with her to get her accustomed to that much but it would have been a crap shoot to try to pet her on her back. My mother tried that and the keeper warned her not to do that again. I'll say this much. A cheetah purring is one of the coolest sounds I've ever heard. Then I also had the opportunity to touch a baby timberwolf and a coyote pup. The timberwolf licked my hand a whole bunch and the coyote just made some noises. Then I also had the chance to touch a baby aligator.

Wow bryan, how freaken cool awesome!!!
Thinking about how the Elephant skin was described it seems like it would feel kinda odd, scary and yet cool at the same time. That is so cool about the wolf pup! Lol about your mom and the cheetah, I most likely would've tried the same thing lol.
I touched a stuffed squirl once, it actually felt very soft though wouldn't want one as a pet haha!
ForReal I know what you mean about elephant as a pet omg smelly mess for sure! :)

And you definitely wouldn't want to make it mad or spook it. A spooked horse is dangerous enough. LOL.

what a neat post topic you have come up with and I'd want a tiger or a lion or a marecat, smiles.

Meerkats aren't actually cats. Actually I think they're a type of rodent.

Post 16 by UniqueOne (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 30-Jan-2014 21:41:49

I've always thought meerkats have an interesting dynamic with one another same with lionesses in a pride or hyena clans. The hyena and meerkat respectfully are lead by dominate females.

Yup. I liked that show Meerkat Manor. Flower was my favorite dominant female.

Post 21 by forereel (Just posting.) on Friday, 31-Jan-2014 12:57:31

They put poop bags on the elephants that are used for working in Africa, so no mess really.
You can also wash them. Big job, but.... Have it help. Lol They wash themselves in the jungle, so why not your backyard? Smile.

I don't know that I'd want one but I'd forgotten to mentio that another animal I had the chance to touch was an armadillo. Then I also once had the chance to touch an owl and that felt pretty cool.
